Color Hunt vs ColorCollect: Which Should You Choose?
Choose Color Hunt for daily color finds you can revisit in a calendar and numbered collection; choose ColorCollect for arranging matching photos into montages or hunting with friends in live rooms. Both are color scavenger hunt games. This comparison covers Color Hunt Game: Color Finder and the montage-focused ColorCollect: Color Hunt Game. Color Hunt is not affiliated with ColorCollect.
A color record or a finished montage?
The most useful distinction is what you want to keep afterward. Color Hunt saves a catch with its photo, color name, HEX value, date, and target match when applicable. Daily catches fill a color calendar, while discoveries contribute to a numbered collection. ColorCollect’s Google Play description centers on a different result: several photos matching a chosen color become one montage. If you want a record of individual shades, Color Hunt fits that task. If your intended keepsake is a composed photo grid, ColorCollect fits more directly.
Daily targets, monthly sets, and a timer
Color Hunt gives you a daily target and a live match meter, plus a six-color monthly palette. Theme War adds a separate challenge: catch all six colors in a chosen palette within three hours. Despite its name, Theme War is a solo timer, with no live opponent or shared room. ColorCollect also offers a daily color challenge, according to Google Play. A daily prompt alone therefore does not distinguish the two; Color Hunt’s monthly sets and timed palette challenge are more useful reasons to choose it.
Editing and exporting the photos
ColorCollect’s official site describes dragging photos to rearrange the grid and choosing contact-sheet, color-pop, or polaroid frames. That gives it a clear advantage when the arrangement itself matters. Color Hunt exports individual cards and square or story-sized palette posters, but its poster layout is automatic. You cannot handpick and reorder the photos within that export. Its poster combines a color strip with a photo mosaic, so it can document a group of catches; it does not provide the same control over the finished composition.
Playing with other people
For a shared activity, ColorCollect has the relevant tools. Its official Play with Friends guide describes rooms joined by a code or invite link, with no account signup required. Assigned mode divides the cells between participants; Vote mode lets the group choose photos for the montage. Live group play needs internet access. Color Hunt has no equivalent room, shared grid, or voting mode. You can share a Color Hunt result afterward, but that is a different experience from contributing photos to the same hunt as it happens.
What stays free in Color Hunt
The daily hunt, monthly palette, and Theme War are free. Free Hunt, the mode for catching any color without a target, allows three captures per day without Pro. The free archive opens the newest 30 captures; older ones remain saved but locked. The calendar lets free users browse the current month. Pro is an optional subscription that adds unlimited Free Hunt captures, five additional themed hunts, full archive and calendar access, and HD exports without a watermark. Check the offer and local price shown by Google Play before subscribing.
What ColorCollect charges for
ColorCollect’s Terms of Service describe free core features and an optional one-time Premium unlock, with no subscription. Its homepage reserves additional grid sizes, Gradient and Film frames, and watermark removal for Premium. There is a discrepancy worth checking: the Google Play description says every grid size and frame style is free. Because those official descriptions disagree, do not assume a particular grid or frame will be free. Open the app’s purchase screen to confirm the unlocks, and check your store for the current local price.
Offline use, uploads, and location
Color Hunt’s core hunts and local collection work offline; purchases need the store connection. ColorCollect also supports offline solo play, but sharing and group play deserve a separate decision. Its Privacy Policy says online sharing of a completed montage uploads the composed image for a share link, while offline sharing sends an image without that upload. Group photos are uploaded for room participants. The policy also describes anonymous usage statistics, so offline solo play should not be read as a promise of no network activity later. Keep room codes among intended participants and enable location sharing only when you want it.
A photo limitation and a backup precaution
Color Hunt can keep the previous photo visible when you select a second image during the same hunt, even though the sampled color comes from the new image. Close the hunt and start another before choosing a replacement photo, then check the saved result. For a collection you care about, export your own backup before removing app data or changing phones. That backup includes captures, daily completion history, and discoveries, but not Theme War or themed-hunt progress. Import only backup files you created yourself.
Try the result you actually need
Before paying, make one representative result: an individual daily catch in Color Hunt, or a small montage in ColorCollect. Look at what you would save, revisit, or send to someone. Check whether the free archive is enough for your Color Hunt collection, or whether your preferred ColorCollect grid and frame need Premium. If friends are the reason for installing, try a shared room together. Those concrete checks are more useful than choosing from the apps’ similar names.

Frequently asked questions
Is ColorCollect available on Android and iPhone?
Yes. ColorCollect: Color Hunt Game has live Google Play and US App Store listings, checked November 5, 2026. Confirm device compatibility and availability in your own store. The Color Hunt features described here refer to its Android app.
Can I see a HEX value in Color Hunt without Pro?
Yes. The daily target and a saved catch’s detail screen show HEX values without Pro. The additional copyable color-code panel, including RGB, Lab, and CMYK, requires Pro. You do not need that panel just to read a catch’s HEX value.
Does ColorCollect help me judge a color match?
Its Privacy Policy describes a Color assist camera that compares the center of the live view with the target color on the device. Color Hunt also provides a live match meter. Matching assistance is therefore another feature the two share.
Can I move a Color Hunt collection into ColorCollect?
Do not assume the backups are interchangeable. Color Hunt’s restore option expects its own backup format. A shared poster is a finished image, not a transferable collection. Check ColorCollect directly for any import route before relying on it to preserve another app’s hunt history.
What if Color Hunt’s upgrade screen has no price?
The screen can remain blank when plan information arrives late. Close it and reopen it after the store connection is available. Wait for a displayed offer before proceeding; there is no fixed price on this page to use as a substitute.
Where can I cancel Color Hunt Pro?
Use Google Play’s Subscriptions section with the account used to subscribe, then select Color Hunt. The active-Pro area in the app’s Settings does not provide a management link. Google Play Help also states that uninstalling an app does not cancel its subscription.
